I spoke about Evolved Footwear’s Black Ice customs on Friday. These shoes did not get high marks in my post because they seemed to be a bit rough around the edges. I think Evolved Footwear is redeemed with the Stan Smith customs shown above. These Adidas customs are successful because the inspiration is rough-and-tumble.

Evolved Footwear created these sneakers for Sikenomics which is a growing clothing design and music company. This shoe was designed for a new clothing line from Sikenomics that was presented in Las Vegas for the MAGIC trade show. A pink SIKE label is applied on the tongue and heel in an effective branding of these customs. An explosion erupts from the outsole out to the rest of the shoe piercing an ashen sky.

If you check out Sikenomics, you will see the rough-hewn aesthetic of the designer that inspired these Stan Smiths. A polished pair of Adidas that looked like they just came off the shelf would be inappropriate. Evolved Footwear succeeded with these shoes where Black Ice failed using a tendency toward creative license to great effect.
