Rod Laver Tournament Editions for Spring 2008

March 15, 2008

Former tennis star Rod Laver is associated today with the premium tennis shoe offered by Adidas. Laver was a phenomenal tennis player in the 1960s and 1970s winning 392 singles matches and 27 tournaments according to the ATP. Fans of tennis, Adidas and simple sneakers can celebrate all three with the upcoming Rod Laver Tournament Editions.

These all-white tennis shoes feature few embellishments to distract a player’s eye from the ball. The dark green heel tab offers the only bit of color in a shoe designed for tennis players in all-white garb. The golden etching on the tongues adds touches of class to a classic tennis shoe.

I think that the Tournament Editions will rarely see the courts given the shoe’s popularity among sneaker fans. The white leather may not be appreciated by customers who trudge through rain, sleet and snow but it is ideal for the occasional trip or party. The limited run of these Rod Lavers will drive up demand because the man’s name is now synonymous with a classic shoe.
