New Balance x Provider - NB1500

New Balance and Provider are coming together for an exciting May release. Provider, which is an Australia-based company, really comes through in this collaboration. Utilizing a standard New Balance shoe, the NB1500, Provider spices it up with a local flair. If you are looking for light yet stylish pair of kicks, these shoes are a good fit for you.

The main color scheme for these shoes is blue, black and white. The blue is used in different shades and textures. While these shoes will be released in Australia, you can find them online at Provider.com.au when they are released on May 10th. Via SneakerNews

New Balance A10 “Limited Edition”

New Balance A10 “Limited Edition” - red colorway, entire shoe
These sneakers are available at Mita. Each pair costs about 11,100 Yen.

This is a special, limited edition of the A10 pack. New Balance has released this pack in Japan. It has the A10 in 3 colorways – red, black and grey.

First, let us look at the sneaker with the red colorway. The toe box starts with canvas material and has a nice border, also in canvas but with the NB logo. It looks like a unique decoration. The shoe upper is entirely in red canvas. In the midsection, there is a large logo. The design becomes complicated at the heel. A small red button signals the beginning of the heel and the big change in the design. There are canvas and leather panels at the heel. The top of the back stab has a panel of curved, wavy border that is in black, but with a central line in red.

From the photograph, you can see that the heel has an elaborate design that uses red and black colors alternatively. Another elaborate design is at the tongue’s logo. The big tab has rich details with the brand name. It is quite a decorative piece.

The other two colorways have similar features but with their respective colors changed. Of the three colorways, I would prefer the black one. I think the large logo on the shoe upper is the most striking decorative feature.

New Balance Woven M574

nb574_woven.jpg

New Balance has released a couple of M574s with distinctive woven uppers. The pair of M574s pictured above use grays, browns and greens in heavy supply to create a shoe that works well on outdoor trails. I have also posted the blue M574s below that use blue hues of suede and leather to create an interesting effect on the woven upper.

The more impressive aspect of this M574 pack is the minor touches that lend to the woven mosaic. A set of three stitches are placed on the NB heel tag to make each shoe look hand crafted. The tongue has a stitched effect that places the 574 in alternating colors to match the upper. These shoes are available in Japan at the moment but they figure to be a hot item in specialty stores soon worldwide.

New Balance M990 Light Green
New Balance M990 Light Green #1

This New Balance M990 features beautiful light green suede throughout. It’s a very good looking shoe that will definitely get some attention.

The uppers feature suede combined with green mesh accents and white trim. These sneakers are a nice light shoe for spring and summer. Most green shoes are too loud, but these are actually done really well.

You can get these now at Bingo Runner for 18800 yen (about $185 USD). Via Sneaker Files.

Resurrection of the New Balance 420s

newbalance420_2.jpg

The good people at New Balance are re-releasing the 420 running shoe to get runners ready for the 2008 racing season. There are four colorways in the NB 420 that will be available online and through retailers around the United States in upcoming weeks. New Balance is returning to its roots and competing with companies like Nike and Adidas with its resurrection of the 420s.

I have posted my two favorite colorways in this post. The white/blue/yellow colorway has a dark gray suede heel that adds a nice accent for a shoe that is perfect for professional runners. I love the olive green colorway posted below because it adds a perfect complement to the white 420s. The light gray suede heel on the olive New Balance 420 provides some relief from a shoe that may be boring to some sneaker fans.

There will be many sneaker fans who will pick up these retro sneakers without any intention of running in a street race. The classic look of the NB 420s should not dissuade runners from going back to something that worked well in the 1980s. I am looking forward to trying out a pair of these shoes this summer alongside technical running shoes from Saucony, Adidas and other brands to see which sneaker is superior. I have a feeling that the classic heel construction, insole and lightweight construction will be favorable to many runners.

New Balance 576 “Elements” Pack

New Balance 576 “Elements” Pack - Earth element, brown/white colorway
New Balance has brought up its latest Elements 576 Collection. The main theme is inspired by Chinese Taoism. It says that the universe is composed by the elements. This Elements collection features only 3 out of the 5 elements. They are Earth, Wood and Water. This Elements Collection is sold in limited numbers.

Each Element has details that are specific to its own. For example, the Earth Element features brown colored contrast stitching. There is a medial pattern that reminds about the layers of earth sediment. The colors of the materials represent the Earth.
The Wood Element has a black and green design to represent the bark of trees and leaves. The Water Element wants to convey serenity and tranquility with its blue/white colorway. The transparent rubber outsole represents water.

Each Element shoe has distinctive Chinese features. The medial side of each shoe has the Chinese word that represents the shoe’s respective Element.

This Elements 576 Collection is being released on staggered dates. Each pair costs USD $100. The Earth Element was released on April 1st. The Wood Element will be launched on May 1st. The Water Element will be sold from June 1st onwards.

New Balance CM576 Canvas - Black and Purple
New Balance CM576 Canvas - Purple

Although New Balance has never been known for their flash, they usually have solid releases. These New Balance Canvas CM576 shoes are another example of New Balance coming through. While unspectacular, you can rock these shoes with ease.

The hotter look of the two is the purple version, which utilizes two different shades of purple. While the shades are quite similar, you can notice the difference upon closer inspection.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a versatile shoe, it doesn’t get much more versatile than the black version of the New Balance Canvas CM576 line. These shoes are classically styled in almost all black, with smidgens of white and metallic silver. You can get these shoes right now at Flauge.

New Balance A14 576 “Coffee Beans”
New Balance A14 576 “Coffee Beans” - #1

As the world continues to “go green,” we are seeing more and more shoes and other fashions made from natural materials and with the environment in mind. The New Balance A14 576 “Coffee Beans,” which is scheduled for release in August 2008, is one of those eco-friendly sneakers.

This shoe uses a cork and woven hemp upper to create a very natural and neutral yet quite unique appearance. The signature “N” is painted on. These shoes are very simplistic but the texture of the upper is interesting enough that they might get some attention. Check out the detailed pictures after the jump.

Look for more information about these shoes later in the year. Via streething.

New Balance CM576D “Lux Leather” Pack
New Balance CM576D “Lux Leather” Pack Black #1

As part of the New Balance 576 20th Anniversary celebration, they have released the New Balance CM576D “Lux Leather” Pack. This pack features three shoes that look so good, you can almost substitute them for dress shoes.

The entire shoe is created from structured premium leather - including the inner lining. The three colorways available are black, brown and khaki. They feature allover color with embossed detailing.

These shoes are very impressive and some of the best looking New Balance kicks that I’ve seen in quite some time. If you are a sneakerhead who doesn’t like to put on dress shoes, these could be a fabulous choice for you. These shoes are available right now at Mita for ¥ 14,900 (about $150 USD).

New Balance M1300 TOW - Aquamarine
New Balance M1300 TOW - Aquamarine

This is a very cool new colorway on the classic New Balance M1300. Featuring aquamarine suede overlays on a light gray mesh upper, this shoe is bright without being overbearing. What I really like about this shoe is the use of orange. It’s a nice contrast with the aquamarine and gives these sneakers a big boost. I am a fan of the shoes that combine suede and mesh and this shoe is no exception.

These shoes also have a unique cell-like design on the white midsole and semi-transparent heel parts. It’s an interesting twist to this classic. You can get these shoes right now at the Overkill Shop for about $156 USD.

New Balance A09

ao9.gif

Laced recently posted a new pair of New Balance trainers with a unique look. These shoes use the A09 style as a backdrop for some interesting design elements.

The familiar New Balance logo on the side of the shoe is replaced with a white N that looks like it was added on by a graffiti artist. Take a look at the heels in the picture after this post to see the mountain peak painted in white against the all-black background. It never seemed possible that black and white would look as good as they do on these special editions.

A few splashes of red break up the occasional monotony of the black/white colorway. Red beads and elaborate stamps on the heels give sneaker fans enough color to satiate their flashy ways. I love these shoes and look forward to a wider release in the near future.
