TTK’s Aquatic Adventure Vandals

TTK is going for a swim with his latest custom Nike Vandals dubbed Aquatic Adventure. These Vandals feature a gray/turquoise/blue colorway that blends the hues of the ocean, dolphins and deep-sea diver gear. The centerpiece of the Aquatic Adventure customs is the illustrations drawn on both shoes.
The right shoe has a large black/white sketch of a scuba diver searching for hidden treasure in the ocean. TTK added a seductive mermaid on the outside part of the left shoe to complete the underwater story. Small touches like a TTK symbol and blue shoe laces lend to the artistry of Aquatic Adventure. A drawing of a diver and a mermaid could have gone horribly wrong in the hands of an overreaching amateur. The illustrations are sharp and TTK created a fantastic custom from heel to toe.

Nike Anthracite Pack
Check out the new Nike Anthracite Pack. This pack has three different types of shoes that all look quite nice - a Blazer High, Air Max LTD and Vandal Low. The Blazer High was recently worn by Jay-Z at a concert in California. High quality detail, multiple textures and a good mix of colors are staples of each type of shoe in this pack.
While each sneaker has a slightly different color scheme, a lot of whites, grays and reds are utilized to create a laidback yet stylish look. Each Nike swoosh is either white or silver and is laid over a darker background. In 2008, laidback and casual shoes have be a favorite for many. These shoes are another example of that trend.

Nike Vandal Low - Cinco De Mayo
It’s not May yet but you can grab these Cinco de Mayo sneakers now at Sneaker Bistro Boutique.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with this new Nike Vandal Low. The white leather sneaker is accented by brown trim and a print design at the heel. But the highlight of these shoes is the red and green strap that uses the traditional colors of the Mexican flag.
Cinco de Mayo (5th of May) celebrations commemorate the Mexican Army’s defeat of the invading French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1861. Whether you are of Mexican heritage or not, these sneakers are a nice looking choice. These are quickstrike model, so get them while you can. Via Sneaker Bistro.

Nike Vintage Vandal High ND
The Nike Vintage collection continues to grow. This time, here are three new Vintage Vandals which are available at the Atmos Tokyo store.
These shoes come in Navy/Yellow, Green/Yellow and White/Red/Blue colorways. The bright yellow is a big contrast on vintage shoes. They all feature color distortion of the uppers and a yellowed vintage midsole.
I prefer the navy pair pictured above. But if you like the look of old school vintage shoes and like the Vandal model, then any of these colorways are good choices. Via Sneaker Files.

Custom Nike Vandals for Comic Book Fans

Custom designer Flawless Victory has reworked a pair of Nike Vandals with images of the comic book villain Venom. This vicious villain has been featured in “The Amazing Spiderman” comics as well as last summer’s blockbuster Spiderman 3. There are several design elements that highlight the reasons why Venom strikes fear into citizens of New York City in the “Spiderman” universe.
Flawless Victory used the left back panel of these custom Vandals to show Venom in action. The disgusting details of Venom including his sharp teeth and overabundance of saliva show the designer’s skill with small touches.
Other portions of the custom Vandals help set the mood for the portrait of Venom on the left shoe. The front of both toe boxes is painted to look like Venom’s teeth. The Nike swoosh is black with droplets of blood coming over the top to show what happens to people who get on the wrong side of Venom. Flawless Victory paints the words Venom Attacks in “Spiderman” lettering to give comic novices a point of reference while looking at these customs.

TTK Custom Vandals Based on 1970s Blaxploitation

TTK has unveiled a truly unique set of custom Nike Vandal Highs through its website. These custom Vandals feature characters from a fake blaxploitation movie created in the head of the designer. The outer side of both shoes feature depictions of 1970s-era characters that look like they belong on an old movie poster.
I love TTK’s take on blaxploitation along with his artistic ability on these Vandal Highs. The black leather on the back half of these customs is the perfect background for TTK’s imaginary characters. The front half of the shoe features a gray concrete design that brings to mind the urban environment where many of these movies took place. I think these customs continue successfully the trend toward shoes honoring other movie genres include crime noir, science fiction and anime.

Nike Vandal High Supreme Tier 0 - Black
Nike is set to release these Vandal Highs in early May. While these shoes aren’t the most exciting shoes on earth, it’s actually a unique look that we don’t see much from Nike. It’s more of a look we’d see from a smaller brand.
Most of the shoe is black-on-black but there is a difference in the shades and textures used. The shiny black swoosh stands out on the black background, which looks to have a hint of grey to it.
To spice it up a bit, Nike added a multicolored strap that features neon blue, metallic grey and seaweed green. You can get these on May 4th, 2008 at Nort Berlin. Via Sneaker Files.

Nike Vandal Vintage 2008

The Nike Vandal Vantage 2008 will be released in the Summer of this year. The shoe upper is made from weather beaten canvas. The tongue is made from nylon. This is a good mix of materials.
The toe box is framed by a white border that has a double row of stitches. This semi-circle highlights the shoe lace region and tongue behind it. The tongue has some red accents in the form of the Nike logo. The last two shoe lace holes are accentuated by red lining along the canvas edge. The last bit of red accent is in the back stab.
There is a shoe strap with attractive red, white and blue strips and plastic decorative buckles. The strap is fastened by velco. Of course, you can wear the sneaker without the shoe strap and the shoe looks different. There is also a choice of using a different colored shoe lace. The picture shows a red shoe lace being used. I suppose that since the shoe strap has a strip of blue accent, you can also buy the blue shoe lace and try that on this Nike Vandal Vintage.
For a conservative look, leave the white shoe lace on. If you want a party look, use the colored shoe lace. I prefer the look with the white shoe lace.

Nike Horror Series - Air Max LTD, Dunk Lo & Vandal Hi.

Nike has created a new pack called the Horror Series. This is a collection of an Air Max LTD, Dunk Lo and Vandal Hi. Each shoe has a printed graphic that shows the theme. These shoes are sold by Major DC.
The Air Max LTD toe box has an interesting skull and a sickle over its head. The horror theme is continued in the deep red shoe lace and a running stream of blood red cross stitches down the side of the shoe.
The Horror Series Dunk Lo looks more cheerful. Its toe box has a colorful graphic, set against a red background. The perimeter of the shoe is a green border. There is another white perimeter before the mid-sole of the shoe starts.
The Horror Series Vanda Hi has a white colorway. The graphic is a devil and it is drawn at the heel. You know what they say – you can run faster with the devil at your heels. This shoe has an interesting velco strap around the heels. Its shoe lace is as black as the dark night where the evil devil lurks.
The Dunk Lo with its red and green contrasting colors is the most outrageous of this pack. I would choose the Air Max LTD because its color combination is soothing.

Nike Hard N Heavy Attitude Pack
If you are music fan, you may love the new pack of shoes being released by Nike this fall. These shoes honor heavy metal and punk rock in a pack dubbed the Nike Hard N Heavy Attitude Pack.
These interesting shoes, which are a Nike Terminator and a Vandal so far, feature metal studs and a strap resembling a belt. The shoes come in black and gold colorways and each will be released with a gold guitar pick.
Studs are being used quite a bit in women’s shoes, belts and handbags this year. So it’s not surprising that Nike chose to use them in this pack. We’ll let you know more details on pricing and other shoes in the pack as soon as info is released. Via Sneaker Files.

Nike Vandal Low for the 2008 Olympics

The Nike Vandal Lows shown above are part of the Nike Copper-Art pack designed to celebrate the 2008 Summer Olympics. These shoes feature a white/copper/black colorway that would look great on a sprinter’s feet during the 100 meter dash. I like the use of copper to play off the red border of the Nike swoosh. The separation of each color is clean with thick stitching allowing fans to move from white to copper and black in an orderly fashion.
I have posted a picture below of the Nike Air Stab included in the Copper-Art pack as a point of comparison. The Air Stab’s use of copper around the eyelets breaks up the black, burgundy and white in an eye-pleasing manner. I think the Vandal Lows remain the best member of the Copper-Art pack because the design is conducive to Olympic events. I can imagine a copper streak passing my eyes as an athlete completes the high jump or long jump. Check out other members of the Copper-Art pack in upcoming weeks to begin your celebration of the 2008 Olympics.

Nike Vandal Hi Green/White/Metallic Silver
If you like to keep things old school simple, check out this Nike Vandal Hi in the Green/White/Metallic Silver colorway.
These shoes are very basic and clean, but really eye-catching. They are basic green canvas accented with a white Swoosh and trim. The Swoosh is edged with a subtle metallic silver.
With so many shoes featuring patchwork colorblocks, distressed leathers or sleek patent, it’s fresh to see a such a basic shoe that still looks good.
These shoes are available now at essense. Via Hypebeast.
