Default vintage jordans fall apart

I collected jordans back when in the day when he was still playing. My first pair was the black jordan 6 and I worked all summer to buy the grey and black jordan 7s. I used these shoes only for basketball in high school. I pulled them off the shelf about 10 years later to play some pickup ball. The soles completely fell off while I was playing. It happened to both pair. I have other OG jordans ranging from 6 to 14s and old retro 1s 3s and 5s most are NIB. Some I got for deal at the NIKE outlet store (scratch and dent).

Do all of the old vitage shoes fall apart when they get old? What is the best way to fix them?

I also have an OG pair of all white AJ 12s but the patent leather seems to be turning yellowish. I tis no longer as white as the upper. Is that normal

Thanks
Dave

First of all. AJ 12's dont have patent leather, and yes OG pairs will crumble and fall apart especially if they havent been worn. You can use shoe goo but those shoes shouldnt be used to ball in anymore.

Sorry, you are right those are AJ 11s. The white patent leather has yellowed over time. Is that something that others have seen?

i am sorry to hear that, but anyone who has been wearing jordans for any amount of time will tell you... they ALWAYS fall apart; especially if you are ballin in them. i have a pair or jordan's ive been wearing for a good 6 years with no issue at all.

they are low jordan 1s. i've worn them MAYBE twice a month since i have had them, but there are no signs of deterioration. its ironic that j's are supposed to be a basketball shoe, but when u play basketball in them... eventually they blow up. but if they are used for non-sport activities they hold up fine.

i blame it on the fact that they are, in most cases, glued together instead of stitched. anyway... i wont vent any more. imma jordan fan to death.

Good to know this stuff. My uncle was also asking me the same question. I can now tell him to safely put the pair in the dustbin.

Yea, eventually all of the vintage J's are going to fall apart. After that many years you can't hoop in them anymore. Basically if you have them or wanna buy vintage J's it should just be for display or sentimental value because the material is eventually going to deteriorate and can't stand any type of abuse. I would also be careful about wearing vintage J's too. All of the problems you are havin are all nomral signs of an older shoes or vintage shoe. Eventually they are going to yellow, only thing you can do is prolong the yellowing, but you can't completely stop that from happening.

Default Retros

Ok, Now that I was aware of the crumbling effect I went back into my closet where I store my AJs. I pulled out a 1994-95 black AJ 3 retros. I wore them casually back when I got them. I took the kids for a walk and got back and the left shoe showed some signs of wear but the right shoe completely came apart. The mid sole seperated from the upper and was cracking. This was just from walking in them.

I also have a white pair of OG AJ 10s that I have been wearing for 10+ years. I jogged in them, and used them daily in the summer months. These shows have held up with just normal where and tear. I pulled out my black AJ 10s which have been in the closet for 10 + years and tried those for a walk and they held up fine.

My collection includes OG AJs 6-14 and early retros 1 & 3 and 2000 retro 5s. The OG 6s crumble when touched, the Retro 3 fell apart walking down the street, the soles fell off my grey and black 7s. My columbia 12s have been through years of saturday pickup ball but have not fallen apart.

What about the rest my collection? Which shoes seem to crumble more than others? I have many NIB 11s 12s and 13s and a pair of 14s that have never been worn.

prety much any J's from the 90's. A lot of original will do that now because of age. Most originals now are justwanted for display and sentimental value.
