KickerBockerGlory posted his Club Tropicana Air Force Ones at the Customsnkr.com blog linked here. These custom Nikes are based on a 1983 Wham! song by the same name, a song that made light of holidays designed for young couples in England.
The Club Tropicana AF1s feature some creative airbrushing and wild prints to bring Wham!’s lyrics to life. KickerBockerGlory turned neon yellow into green gradually as he moved from the toe box to the middle panel through the magic of airbrushing. He used this technique to smoothly fade the Nike swoosh from a deep blue to white. These custom sneakers would not have been complete without the requisite hot pink on the toe box and eyelets.
KickerBockerGlory finished off these sneakers with a light green/dark green leopard print on the heels. This colorful print reminds me of swimsuits, beach blankets and other elements of a vacation on the coast. I think the designer did a great job capturing the tone of “Club Tropicana” while making sneaker art worth viewing years into the future.
