Sideview Customs customized the Nike SB Dunk Mid “Donatellos” shown in this post. These shoes were originally created by Nike with the apparent inspiration of Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The original shoe featured the brown/purple/green colorway that Donatello donned throughout the cartoon. The problem with Nike’s version of the Donatello is that it was limited to the fictional turtle’s colors.
The designer’s greatest feat on these custom SB Dunk Mids was adding the turtle-shell look. The side panels underneath the Nike swoosh look like the shell of a turtle. This feature may seem like a simple modification of Nike’s original vision but it looks like it was tough to paint.
I think Sideview Customs did a great job taking the baton from Nike and completing the shoe’s overall vision. You can check these shoes out at the Sideview Customs MySpace page linked here.
