This Nike SB is a collaboration with Fly and Triumvir. Fly is a skate store in China and Triumvir belongs to the company called Cali. Fly and Cali chose to work on the “Beijing” Dunk Mid. Nike SB was the third arm in this project involving all three companies.
The shoe took inspiration from Beijing’s favourite landmarks and icons like the Tienanmen Square, dust, traffic, highways and noodles. This Dunk Mid is the first Nike shoe to be named after Beijing. The grey tones were meant to reflect Beijing’s high towers and highways. The black midsection uses special premium tumbled leather.
The toe box is black and has small perforations. The surrounding mudguard is white and has double stitching for its details. The white shoe lace coordinates with the white mudguard. The shoe lace holes are on a border of patterned leather. The shoe has a black collar and a thin red border around the ankle. The heel segment is made of the grey patterned leather and extends upwards to give a shoe strap. This strap has the Nike SB logo at its tip. The Nike swoosh is black and outlined in orange. The midsole is grey while the outsole is black. This is a good looking shoe to woo the Beijing market for Nike.
