Nike Sportswear 2009 has started its manufacture with a new line of shoes on the women’s Air Max 90, using patent leather. This first batch has two colorways in bright yellow and bright purple. The date has not been fixed for this release.

Let’s look at the purple colorway. The toe box uses a dense mesh material. The mudguard is made of shiny purple leather and this provides the sparkle to the shoe. The mudguard is in the traditional Air Max style and goes around the perimeter of the shoe. There are generous amounts of white in the accents found at the shoe lace panels, Nike swoosh, back tab and midsole. The combination of purple and white is good. The white panels for the lacing holes contain a few more pairs of extra holes for decorative effect. The purple shoe lace sets off the color combination nicely. The sneaker has the right amounts of accents to bring out the value of the bright purple color.

The yellow colorway looks good too. I would prefer this as yellow is easier to use to coordinate with other colors of the attire. The yellow and purple colors were chosen by Nike because they were popular colors associated with women’s preferences.
