Simba and Mufasa Custom Nikes
December 29, 2008
Ripp worked with a client named Richard to create a father-son custom sneaker duo based on The Lion King. Richard wanted his son to have Simba Nikes while he wanted Mufasa Air Force Ones to play off the movie’s father-son dynamic. Ripp created a unified image across all four toe boxes while keeping each pair creative on their own.
Richard’s Air Force Ones feature Mufasa standing against a clear blue sky and desert backdrop. His son’s custom Nikes have Simba’s head on the left shoe and the name Simba along with the lion’s tail on the right shoe. When you put the smaller Nikes between the Air Force Ones, it looks like Mufasa is playing with his precocious son while protecting him from harm.
Ripp added some fun accents outside of the toe boxes to leave his mark on this Lion King Nike pack. Timon is pictured on the outside of the kid Nikes along with a pair of paw prints. Richard asked for the Lion of Judah to be painted on the heel which Ripp obliged with his usual artistic skill.
