Clarks and Futura Reinvent the Wallabee

The average sneaker fan may encounter a time in his daily life where a pair of Nike Air Force Ones isn’t appropriate. The venerable British shoe maker Clarks and graffiti virtuoso Futura combined forces to make a casual boot that is stylish on the streets and in the club.

The Wallabee has a long toe box that is flat like a duck’s bill. You can take a look at the picture above to see the exaggerated toe area along with the raised leather ridge that runs to the top eyelet. This older style by Clarks is given street credibility by Futura who used light brown accents against chocolate leather. Futura added some circles, branches and sweeping lines spaced to avoid clutter at any one point on the shoe.

I know that the Wallabee is similar to other offerings by Clarks but these are fantastic shoes. I had a pair of low-top casual shoes from Clarks for years and they were very comfortable. My only criticism of the brand prior to Futura’s efforts was the problem of looking like an old man while tooling around town. Clarks is moving away from its post-World War II looks and toward a new look for the 21st century. I hope that the limited run of these Wallabees will encourage Clarks toward additional collaborations.
