Puma Basket 70s Honor the Seattle SuperSonics

basket70s.jpg

The Seattle Super Sonics were one of the most interesting teams in the NBA during the 1970s. Players like Lenny Wilkins, Spencer Haywood and Walt Hazzard were led by coaching luminaries like Al Bianchi and Bill Russell. Puma has decided to honor some of the great NBA teams of the 1970s with a series called the Basket 70s.

My colleague Kori wrote about the first installment in this Puma series earlier in the month. The Seattle versions of these skate shoes use a yellow streak running from the outsole around the heel to the other side. A green sole and laces complete the Sonics motif for fans of the 1979 championship team. The obligatory Seattle skyline with the Space Needle is painted on the heel to complete this homage to 1970s basketball.

I love the Sonics version more than the Knicks version simply for the colorway. I like the yellow/green colorway as well as the silhouetted skyline on the heel though New York’s skyline is unbeatable. You can check out the Knicks and Sonics Basket 70s at local stores in upcoming weeks but wait for updates on additional teams at MyAirShoes.
