Air Jordan has chosen to sponsor Puerto Rico again for another season. For the summer of 2008, the Jordan Brand will take charge of outfitting the Men’s basketball Puerto Rico National Team for the Beijing Olympics. The Jordan Brands assembled a special edition to celebrate the first National team to be outfitted by them.

A special, limited edition of the Puerto Rico Air Jordan 1 Low PHAT was released to a small selection of 3 stores in the US. In each of the 3 stores, only 24 pairs were released. That means that only 72 pairs of these shoes were available.

This was the very first release of the Air Jordan 1 Low PHAT. This shoe has its own special feature. It offers more padding around the collar and tongue. To coincide with this release, the Jordan Brand had also prepared T shirts, practice jerseys and hats.

This shoe uses the patriotic colors of the US flag. The main color is red and it has blue, white and orange accents. The red toe box is perforated. The white shoe lace and tongue compliment each other. The label at the tongue has an orange basketball and a small portion of a flag. The tiny flag is repeated in a small piece attached to the heel.
