Custom Air Stabs from Evolved Footwear

evolvedfootwear.jpg

Evolved Footwear has a few custom sneakers that have just hit their eBay store this week. One of the sneakers that got my attention right away was the Nike Air Stabs shown above. These customs are impressive because they blend two strong colors and feature great craftsmanship.

The base layer is yellow leather including an untouched Nike swoosh that stands out from the solid blue Air Stab symbol and laces. Evolved Footwear took time and great care in applying different sized blue spots on the yellow background. This intricate design would have failed miserably if the designer was careless about leaving white spaces and the swoosh clear of blue paint.

You can search for Evolved Footwear on eBay to see some of the other designs currently on sale. These sneakers are flashy compared to other works by the designer but they sit comfortably on the side of good taste in custom shoes.

Custom Nike Air Stabs

airstabcustoms1.jpg

A designer posted these Air Stabs on Nike Talk and stated that he picked up the pair for $15. This bargain apparently struck the designer’s artistic side and caused him to make these Nike low-tops his own. You can see in the picture above that the veins of black paint applied to the shoes stand out well from the gray leather.

There were comments on Nike Talk that the designer was crazy to ruin a $15 pair of Nike Air Stabs with black paint. I think the shoe is okay in its present state though it seems to be an initial stage of the customization process. A pair of black laces replaced the white laces in an effort to complete the effect. An additional layer of paint applied to the Nike swooshes as well as another touch-up of the black veins would help this shoe turn from a bargain into a high-priced custom.

Nike Air Stabs by Dunks R Nice and Adobofosho

dunksrnice1.jpg

A collaboration between designers Dunks R Nice and Adobofosho was highlighted recently on Nike Talk. The duo worked to add a funky safari print to a basic pair of Nike Air Stabs. The intricacies of these custom Air Stabs should impress even the most hardened sneaker fan.

The original gray/black/red color of the Air Stab is used as the inspiration for the wild print. Gray paint was applied from heel to toe over the black leather to create the spotted effect you see in the pictures below. I love the black paint used on the outsole to cut apart the colorful Nike Air pocket. The red Air Stab symbol, eyelets and tongue swoosh add enough color to break these customs out of the doldrums. I hope that Dunks R Nice and Adobofosho collaborate in the future to bring some flavor to other Nike styles.
