It’s nice to finally see Fila starting to get back in the kicks business. The F13 hi-top design dates back to 1987 when Fila initially released its original fitness models. F obviously stands for Fila while 13 stands for the fact that this is the 13th sneaker released by Fila.

Fila F13 is made up of a smooth leather packed in a high-top training design. It also features stitching, overlay as well as perforation accents, a lace-up front and an ankle strap with velcro for easy adjustment. Collar and tongue are cushioned for a more comfortable fit. It also comes in a padded insole, a flexible and traction-patterened outsole. It comes in basic colors of black and white.

Sneakers by Sean was asked by a friend to customize a pair of Filas with a zebra print. As an expert in this familiar design, the designer had no problem in turning these plain white Filas into a sneaker masterpiece. Sneakers by Sean has done multiple customs with zebra prints so he went in a different direction with these Filas. Instead of cutting black lines across the white leather surface, the designer used a lighter gray color to frame the middle panels and heels. The pattern is repeated from outside to inside on both shoes with remarkable uniformity.

For all those sneaker fans who are tired of traditional animal prints, I would recommend a peek at the pictures below. The Zebra Print Filas do not simply duplicate the black/white skin of the zebra. Sneakers by Sean brings his own flavor and perspective to these custom Filas, making them stand apart from the designer’s past work.

An iconic basketball shoe is back this week – the Fila 96 Grant Hill. In a collaboration with Reed Space, they have re-mixed this shoe a bit. Three colorways are rolling out – an clean white/navy version, a New York Knicks edition and a CMYK colorway.

On the medial side, you will see an embroidered “Reed 96″. These shoes will be available beginning on Friday, November 21 only at Reed Space. Via Hypebeast.

The Wu-Tang Clan had a big impact on rap and they also have put their stamp on the shoe scene with their yellow and black Dunk Highs being some of the most coveted shoes around. Now they have collaborated with Fila on a pair of boots, and I’m sure they will garnish some serious attention.

Using earth tones and strong construction, these all-weather boots are good for hiking in the outdoors as well as for city wear. Though people won’t be clamouring for these like the Dunks, they are definitely a cool pair of boots. The iconic Wu-Tang logo is evident on the side panel and heel, along with the CREAM acronym on the tongue. This collaboration is expected soon at Liquor, Women & Tears for ¥14,700 yen. Fila has not been a strong player in the sneaker market since the late 1990s. The brand’s basic tennis and casual shoes were passed up quickly by brands like Puma, Vans and Adidas. Fila tried to keep up with simple basketball shoes but the competition from Reebok and Nike was stiff. The brand is returning strong with the Fila Centre Court.

This casual shoe is available in white and blue with the primary colors alternated between two available models. The Centre Court is designed for tennis players with a comfortable sole and soft leather exterior. These characteristics make it a great shoe for walkers, skateboarders and others who aren’t thinking about hitting the local tennis court in spring.

The last time I had a pair of Filas was high school when I needed new shoes for basketball. I was less than impressed with Fila’s style after I bought a pair of Gary Payton Nikes the next season. The brand’s new focus will go a long way toward drawing in skeptical sneaker fans like myself.
