NBA Feet: Kobe Bryant – Champions!

NBA Feet: Kobe Bryant - Champions!

NBA Feet: Kobe Bryant - Champions!

So LAkers are the champions this year. Not surprising. With that war machine under their command, we should be surprised that President Barrack Obama still keeps his seat at the White House. But this victory should at least seal our candidate for the next election. Kobe Bryant for president…

Well maybe not, but surely he deserves the title of president of basketball doesn;t he? It’s not just him who’s contributed to this great victory, but it’s his spirit and his dominance of the filed that have allowed his peers the masterly domination of the courtthat they have achieved on that day.

Winner takes all. That’s the point of sports. But one should not neglect what both sides gain in any game regardless of who wins. Courage, team spirit, pride, and confidence. And these values are symbolized in Nike’s era-busting designs as well.

Nike Dream Season – Kobe Bryant – Fall/Winter ‘09

Nike’s second signature line for Kobe Bryant, this pack is devoted to realized dreams, and fulfilled hopes. Dreams are what distinguish the visionary from the ordinary fellow, and the competitive, cutthroat environment of basketball is perfect for a study of the concept, as realized in this beautiful pair from Nike.

The Nike Dream is ancient yet fresh and lively like it was born yesterday. And such is the design and form of these pairs too. They are built upon decades of refinement and improvement, but they are modern, vigorous, and strong as if they were entirely conceived and realized in the first months of this year.

Bearing the name of Kobe is a source of pride to any Nike or Basketball lover. Combining that experience with the honor of wearing such a wonderful pair makes the pleasure all the more incomparable. Via Kenlu. Release information will be available later.

Duke University Nike Zoom Kobe IV

Duke University Nike Zoom Kobe IV - #1

Although Kobe Bryant skipped college to head straight to the NBA, he’s made comments that if he would have gone to college that Duke would have been his choice. With that in mind, these Duke University Nike Zoom Kobe IV kicks make a lot of sense. Despite not playing for Coach K at Duke, Kobe did get a chance to play with him this summer as he helped the USA bring home the basketball gold medal in the Olympics.

As you would expect with Duke shoes, these kicks have the D logo on the heel and utilize a blue color scheme. Check out both the home and road versions. Overall, these sneakers are very slick but don’t expect to find a pair. Sole Collector says that “Due to legal complications, don’t expect to see these hitting the House Of Hoops anytime soon.”

Kobe Debuts Zoom Kobe IV “Venom” vs Heat

Zoom Kobe IV Venom - #1

When Kobe Bryant hit the court on Friday night against the Miami Heat, he was wearing the new low-cut version of his signature shoe – the Nike Zoom Kobe IV.

This particular colorway, which features black along with the Lakers purple and gold, is dubbed “Venom” – continuing to play on Kobe’s Black Mamba theme.

Though some NBA players steer away from low-cut shoes because they think they’ll be more at risk for ankle injuries, Kobe feels the opposite. Nike says it’s the lightest basketball shoe it has created at 11.6 ounces. Kobe feels the switch makes the most sense for his game personally.

“High-tops really don’t do much for you,” Bryant said Friday to the press. “If you’re going to roll your ankle, you’re going to roll it. It kind of is what it is. If you come down on somebody’s foot, nothing you can do really about that. I wanted to have more mobility in the ankle, more movement at the foot and a lighter weight shoe, and I got it.”

“It’s more about what I needed as an athlete, me, myself,” Bryant said. “When I play, how do I feel when I wear the shoe? When I wear high-tops, how did I feel? What would I like to see improve in the shoes? What would I like to see perform better? From that, in our meetings, I would just throw all this stuff to them and they would come back with the technology necessary.”

This shoe also went on sale on Friday in limited numbers exclusively in Miami and Los Angeles. Via Nice Kicks.

Nike Zoom Kobe IV

Nike Zoom Kobe IV - #1

The fourth signature shoe in Kobe’s line is set to release in January 2009. But many Kobe enthusiasts aren’t thrilled with the Zoom Kobe IV. This shoe is low cut, rather than highs normally seen in the Nike signature shoes of franchise athletes.

When Eric Avar created this shoe, Kobe wanted a low version so that he could prevent himself from losing seconds in reaction time. The shoe uses innovative technology, Lunar Foam and Flywire, while having some Zoom Air in the forefoot to balance out the sneaker.

These kicks will be available at $120 in January. Available at Marquee Sole. Via Sneaker News.
