Santa Monica-based illustrators Kozy & Dan (Kozyndan) teamed up with Puma to work on this pack of Clydes. Clydes are an iconic favorite of Puma fans and their eccentric colorways and interesting collaborations are normally a hit.
This pack consists of two version, both featuring a washed paint upper for a very unique look. These sneakers are available right now at Mita in the black/grey and the white/green colorways. The white/green edition looks to be more suited for springtime. Via Mita.
Continuing with more Olympic-inspired shoes, Puma honors Tommie Smith with these gold Puma Clydes. Smith’s 200m dash record is on the tongue and metallic gold medals are embossed throughout the shoe.
Two sets of laces are included with “1968″ appearing on the tips. Smith won the gold medal in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. On the podium, the newly crowned Smith (along with Bronze medalist John Carlos) raised his fist in the air, which set off a firestorm of controversy. The barefoot athletes’ black power salute was meant to represent black poverty. The two were booed by the crowd and the Olympic committee thought politics had no place in the Games. Smith and Carlos were stripped of their medals and banned from the Olympic village. This led to many protests in the U.S. and Smith and Carlos were never given back their medals. The Puma Clyde has been one of the most popular shoes over the years. Behind the power of former New York Knick Clyde Frazier, Puma Clydes have sold at a continuous rate over the years. Now, using the power of their successful shoe, Puma has released these pair of new kicks.
Called the Puma Clyde Cloud L, these shoes utilize classic leather to give the shoe a distinguished look. Since Clyde has a unique sense of fashion and is always dressed to impress, these shoes are a natural fit to his image. If you are looking for comfortable sneakers that are also classy, these are one of the best Puma releases of 2008. First we told you about the Puma x Atmos polar animals in the Endangered Species Pack and then we followed up with the Suede Panda. Now, here are a two more shoes to join the Giant Panda in the Endangered Asian Species Pack.
Using the classic Clyde, Puma and Atmos collaborated to create the Golden Monkey (pictured above) and Crested Ibis sneakers. These shoes aren’t as wild as the others in the pack – there’s no fur or feathers. However, they do use colors that make these shoes really stand out. They are more wearable than the previous shoes but can still make a statement. These sneakers will be released in July 2008 at $125. Via Complex.
Atmos’ latest collaboration with Puma is the Endangered Species pack, which depicts three endangered speices from the wastelands of the Arctic and Antarctic.
The three animal-inpired shoes include the Harp Seal Clyde, the Polar Bear Clyde and the Macaroni Penguin Mid. These sneakers took their inspiration from National Geographic wildlife photographer Mitsuaki Iwago. These fun shoes feature feathers, fur and animal prints.
These shoes will be exclusive to Atmos with prices ranging from $125-150. They will be released on June 28th. Via Complex

Last year sneaker customizer Rob L teamed up with Puma. Together they created a sample for the “Archipelago” Clydes as a tribute to the range of Greek islands. The sneakers had a patchy upper to depict the concentration of islands.
The shoe later went into full production and will now be available in two colorways. Personally I prefer the version that is nearly white on white. The subtle print is stylish and not overwhelming at all. Howver, the blue on white version is nice as well.
The Rob L x Puma Clyde “Archipelago” features a nubuck upper and laces that are spread far apart. These sneakers will hit shelves worldwide on June 21st. You can get them at Solebox. Via Hypebeast.
A new pack of three very colorful Puma Clydes have been released. Though the Clyde is a simple shoe, these are very lively. Each shoe features buttery suede in a solid color accented by a contrasting shade on the sole. The color combinations are very nice, particularly the green and violet version pictured above.
The other two colorways are orange/blue and blue/red. Though these shades are unique, they aren’t too obnoxious. They are nice alternative to dark or white shoes from spring or summertime. These sneakers are available right now at Ubiq. Via Hypebeast.
