Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2

Hziii Customizations used the mixture of ink colors as inspiration when creating the Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2. The Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2 can also be seen from a darker perspective with the black ink slowly but surely killing or “poisoning” the mint ink. The designer posted the Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2s at the Hziii Customizations Customsnkr.com blog linked here.

The exterior side of both shoes shows the mint color cutting across the black expanse in a thin line. If you imagine dropping some light ink into a dark fluid, you can see what a great job Hziii did with this design. The brush strokes that cut across the black paint may look haphazard but the image moves smoothly as the eye drifts to the toe.

Hziii used a more elaborate design on the interior side of the Poison Adidas Stan Smith 2. We see a broader band of mint green just behind the middle panel, surrounded on both sides by black paint. If you are interested in other work by Hziii Customizations, feel free to check out the designer’s work at the Facebook page linked here.

Geisha Stan Smith II

Sole Brother Customs was asked by a girlfriend for some custom Stan Smiths based on 17th-century Japanese woodcut printing to give to her boyfriend. The Geisha Stan Smith IIs feature an orange/yellow colorway that is employed creatively to showcase a playful geisha on each shoe. You can check out additional information on the Geisha Stan Smith II at the Sole Brother website linked here.

The bright orange cuts across the toe box and emerges again on the heel tag. The backdrop for the heel and middle panel is a subdued yellow hue that breaks when we gaze upon the geisha. The geisha has written the Japanese figure for love as well as the names of the boyfriend and girlfriend on a white background.

My favorite part of the Geisha Stan Smiths is the blooming tree branches that extend outward from the heel and eyelets. The orange flowers look great against the soft yellow background and must have taken a long time to complete. Even though I don’t know the couple in question, it looks like Sole Brother has captured the essence of young love with these custom sneakers.

Adidas Originals Stan Smith Weave

Adidas Originals Stan Smith Weave - #1

With white-on-white being on the hottest color schemes, Adidas is offering those who like the white-on-white look two slick versions of the Stan Smith model. What makes these sneakers stand out is the weave pattern used on the side panels that adds some texture and flavor. Overall, these shoes are some of the cleanest releases we’ve seen from Adidas in a while.

In these two different versions, the difference is the gold trim and gum outsole on one version. The gold trim helps add just a touch of bling to the otherwise monochromatic look. Look for these sneakers at adidas Originals accounts now. Via Dunk.cn.

Sole Obsession Stan Smiths

Hypethetic brought his latest Adidas customs to the Adiartist event sponsored by Adidas Originals Singapore. You can check out his ode to Sole Obsession as well as his other customs presented at Adiartist at the Nike Talk post linked here. The inspiration for these shoes was a pair of customs made by Sole Obsession that are pictured after this post.

The Sole Obsession customs start out with a basic pair of Stan Smiths. Instead of using the neon yellow featured on Sole Obsession’s shoes, these customs feature neon green interlocked with white. Hypethetic was successful in replicating the intricate technique as well as the look of Sole Obsession’s customs in time for this important event.

Some readers may think that imitation is the sign of a tired or uninspired artist. I would agree with the age old adage that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Hypethetic is paying his respects to Sole Obsession while adding his own special flavor to these Stan Smiths. The difficulty level in replicating Sole Obsession’s vision was compounded by the technique needed to create these customs.

Custom Stan Smiths by Yassir Rais

I highlighted the latest creations by designer Yassir Rais in yesterday’s post. The Adidas Stan Smith customs shown above were the first posted by Rais at his Customsnkr.com blog linked here. While I am a bigger fan of his “Under Construction” Nike Dunks, I think his initial entry into the world of custom sneakers was impressive.

The background pattern used by Rais features blue squares, blue triangles, red Xs and green stars. He extended these colors to red, blue and green eyelets as well as a stream of colors on the tongue. Yassir freestyled a bit on the heels of these Stan Smiths with a black/white flower winding its way from the collar to the back panel.

Every designer’s first effort at custom art is an adventure into the unknown. It is clear, however, that Yassir’s true talents show through these Stan Smith. The rich details and eye for contrasts expressed in the “Under Construction” Dunks make themselves known in Yassir’s first shoes. The best part about Yassir Rais’ first sneakers is the willingness to think outside of the box to create an interesting new design.

Silver Surfer Stan Smiths

Designer Too Nice from TN Customs has customized a pair of Adidas Stan Smiths based on one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters. These custom sneakers were crafted for the designer’s friend who is a big fan of the Silver Surfer. I love the style of these shoes which looks exactly like a comic book cover.

Too Nice placed an action picture of Silver Surfer on the left sneaker. This image shows this intergalactic character piercing the darkness of space on his silver surfboard. The right shoe replicates the Marvel Comics print used at the top of each issue of Silver Surfer.

I think that Too Nice and TN Customs went a long way toward repairing the image of Silver Surfer after the less-than-thrilling Fantastic Four sequel last summer. You can check out Too Nice’s work on other comic-inspired sneakers by heading to the website here.

Custom Stan Smiths for a 21st Birthday

briezrs.jpg

There are many ways to celebrate your 21st birthday that don’t involve drinking and partying. I am sure that the designer Briezrs had his fair share of fun on his 21st but he gave himself the gift of custom sneakers ahead of time. He designed the custom Adidas Stan Smiths pictured in this post as a gift to celebrate his budding career.

Briezrs did not go overboard with color and the resulting Stan Smiths are clean and cool. There are simple black lines set against white leather that look like anonymous dancing figures from a certain distance. The designer created this effect with motion lines around each figure. Briezrs added a trendy touch to these Stan Smiths with Chinese lettering on both heels.

These Stan Smiths look fantastic and I hope that Briezrs shares his gift of custom design with sneaker fans well into the future. I hope he shows the same balance of innovation and restraint on future projects as he works on new projects.
